<p>Manchester Islamic Grammar School for Girls is an independent all-girls 11–16<br />
secondary school located in the Fielden Campus, West Didsbury, Manchester, M20 2PQ.<br />
West Didsbury is an affluent suburb of South Manchester, offering a vibrant area that<br />
balances a cosmopolitan yet village atmosphere. Our school is perfectly situated with<br />
easy access to bus and tram routes to Manchester city centre.<br />
We are a relatively small school of approximately 250 students. Alongside our partner<br />
schools, KD Grammar School for Boys and Manchester Muslim Preparatory School, we<br />
form part of the highly successful Manchester Islamic Educational Trust. We are proud to<br />
have been rated Outstanding in our last three Ofsted inspections.</p>
<p>We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and dedicated caretaker to join our school<br />
team. This important role will ensure that our school environment is safe, clean, and well-maintained, providing the ideal setting for students and staff to thrive. We are looking for<br />
someone with excellent practical skills, a proactive attitude, and a commitment to<br />
supporting the smooth day-to-day running of our school. If you have a passion for creating<br />

<p><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Key Responsibilities:</span></strong><br />
• Carry out general maintenance tasks around the school and grounds, including<br />
minor repairs and DIY tasks.<br />
• Assist with contractors during school holidays, (typically in the Easter and<br />
Summer holiday) ensuring access to the school and supporting maintenance<br />
works.<br />
• Be available during the Easter and summer holiday periods as required by the<br />
Headteacher, typically from 9.00am – 5.00pm, with flexibility depending on the<br />
work being completed.<br />
• Provide support for school events, meetings, and occasionally work evenings or<br />
weekends as required.<br />
• Ensure the security of the school site, acting as a ‘Key Holder’ and responding to<br />
call-outs when necessary (e.g., alarm triggers).<br />
• Take the initiative to carry out practical DIY jobs and effectively use maintenance<br />
equipment and machinery to ensure the smooth running of the school.<br />
• Carry out emergency cleaning duties, such as addressing spillages or accidents<br />
promptly.<br />
• Move furniture and other equipment for special events or meetings.<br />
• Maintain the school grounds, including seasonal gardening, trimming, and<br />
pruning, and clearing rubbish, leaves, and snow/ice to ensure safety and<br />
accessibility, especially for fire exits and escape routes.<br />
• Keep accurate records of cleaning supplies and ensure orders are placed when<br />
stocks are low.<br />
• Receipt and distribute ordered goods, materials, and equipment, ensuring that<br />
items are delivered and distributed appropriately to staff.<br />
Skills and Experience:<br />
• Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others.<br />
• Practical DIY experience and ability to operate maintenance equipment and<br />
machinery effectively.<br />
• Flexible ‘can do’ attitude, with the ability to adapt to changing needs and<br />
responsibilities.<br />
• A driver’s license and vehicle are essential for the role.<br />
• Previous experience as a caretaker, builder, or site manager is highly desirable.<br />
• A pleasant and approachable manner, with good communication skills.<br />

• Five days’ paid leave is available on a rota basis for staff who travel for Hajj for<br />

and recruitment.<br />
• Build and maintain relationships with local communities, feeder schools and<br />

• Plan and execute open days, school tours, community outreach events and<br />
other promotional activities to engage prospective students and their<br />

• School Administration &amp; Compliance<br />
• Ensure compliance with all relevant educational and health &amp; safety<br />
regulations.<br />
• Maintain and improve ISI ratings.<br />
• Manage the school’s resources effectively, ensuring sustainability and<br />

• Report regularly to the Board of Trustees on school performance,<br />

<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Qualifications &amp; Experience</strong></span><br />
• Essential<br />
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.<br />
• Proven leadership experience in a senior educational role, ideally within an<br />
Islamic or faith-based school setting.<br />
• Strong understanding of Islamic principles, teachings and values.<br />
• Excellent knowledge of the UK national curriculum and relevant educational<br />
frameworks.<br />
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff, as well as to develop strong<br />
relationships with students, parents and the community.<br />
• Desirable<br />
• Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or a related field.<br />
• Experience of working in or with girls’ schools.<br />
• Familiarity with the ISI and Ofsted inspection framework and procedures.<br />
